Laptop battery replacement in South Bend

Battery gone by lunch, laptop that only works plugged in, a trackpad that has started to bulge because the battery underneath is swelling? Bring it in. We replace batteries in laptops of every brand, Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, MSI, Microsoft Surface, Chromebooks and MacBooks, right here in South Bend.

It starts with the $60 diagnostic, which confirms the battery really is the problem and not the charger or the charge port, and that $60 comes off the repair. The battery itself is quoted after the look, because it depends on your exact model, and you approve the price before anything is ordered.

When we have your battery in stock the swap is usually same-day. When it has to be ordered for your exact model, it is a few days, and you hear that up front.

Or just walk in during business hours, no appointment needed.

Battery problems we fix

  • Batteries that drain in an hour or two, or die at 30%
  • Laptops that only run while plugged in, or shut off the moment the cord comes out
  • Swollen batteries pushing up the trackpad, keyboard or case
  • Batteries stuck at 0% or “plugged in, not charging”
  • MacBook batteries showing “Service Recommended”
  • Not sure if it’s the battery, the charger or the port? We test all three and tell you which

A swollen battery is a stop-using-it-now problem: unplug the laptop, power it off, do not press on the bulge, and bring it in. Everything else about a battery swap is routine, and it is backed by our 30-day warranty on parts and labor.

Walk in with the laptop and its charger, no appointment needed. For the flat $60 we test the battery, the charger and the charge port separately, so you are not buying a battery for a port problem.

Common questions

Common battery replacement questions

How much does a laptop battery replacement cost?

It is quoted after the $60 diagnostic, because the battery depends on your exact model and two laptops that look alike can take batteries that cost very different amounts. A guess over the phone would not be an honest number. For the flat $60 we confirm the battery really is the problem and give you the real price before anything is ordered, and that $60 comes off the repair when you go ahead. Our prices page lists every number we publish.

How do I know if it is the battery and not the charger?

A rough rule: if the laptop runs fine plugged in but dies fast on its own, it is usually the battery. If it only charges with the cord held at an angle, that points to the charge port. If the light on the charger brick is dark, suspect the charger. The honest answer is that we test all three for the $60, because people replace two or three chargers before finding out it was the port or the battery.

My battery is swollen. Is that dangerous?

Treat it seriously. A swollen battery pushes up the trackpad or keyboard, and it should not be pressed on, punctured, or left charging. Unplug the laptop, power it off, and bring it in. We remove it safely and dispose of it properly, and replacing it usually puts the laptop right back to normal.

How long does it take?

If we have your battery on the shelf, usually the same day. If it has to be ordered for your exact model, a few days, and we tell you that before you commit. Either way you get a text the moment it is ready, and you are welcome to keep the laptop while we wait for the part.

Do you replace MacBook and Surface batteries, or sealed laptops?

Yes. MacBook Air and Pro, Microsoft Surface, and the many thin laptops with the battery glued or sealed inside are all regular work for us. Sealed designs take more bench time than a pop-out battery, which is part of why the price is quoted after we see the exact model.

Will I lose my files?

No. A battery swap does not touch your storage, so your files, photos and programs stay exactly where they are. We still suggest keeping a backup of anything important as a good habit, but a battery replacement is not a data risk.

Whatever broke, we’ve probably seen it. Let’s take a look.

Our flat prices are posted on the pricing page. The one thing we never guess at is the repair itself: we look first ($60, credited to your repair), then you get a real number before any work starts. Walk in, book a time, or text us a photo of what’s wrong. Look for the black door with our logo on it, straight ahead when you pull in, up the steps; knock if it’s locked, we’re here.
