What usually breaks on Dells

Dell repair questions
How much does a Dell charge port or screen repair cost?
It depends on the exact model, and two Dells that look alike can take parts that cost very different amounts, so a number here would be a guess. For the flat $60 we confirm what the machine needs and quote it before anything is ordered, with the $60 already credited. Repairs carry a 30-day warranty on parts and labor.
My Dell says “plugged in, not charging.” Is it the charger, the port or the battery?
Any of the three, and the fix is very different for each. We test them separately as part of the $60 diagnostic and tell you which one it is, so you are not buying a battery for a port problem. If the port is the kind soldered to the board, we diagnose that in-house under the microscope and quote the board repair before touching it.
Do you keep Dell parts in stock?

While your Dell is on the bench you can borrow a charger, keyboard, mouse or monitor for a small flat fee quoted at the counter.
Will I lose my files?
Most repairs, like a screen, a port, a battery or a keyboard, never touch your files. If the drive is the problem, or the machine is dead and the files are the real worry, say so at the counter and saving them becomes the first job. If you still can, back up before you bring it in.
What if my Dell is still under warranty?
Check with Dell first: warranty work goes through them, not us, and we are not connected to Dell in any way. Once it is out of warranty, or when you would rather have a local person look at it this week, bring it in. Your answer comes within 5 business days, and most repairs are done one to two days after you approve them.
