Charging port repair in South Bend
Charger only works if you hold the cord just right? Port feels loose, or the device stopped charging altogether? Bring it in. We repair charging ports on laptops (the round DC jack and USB-C), and on phones and tablets too, so one local shop covers everything in the house that plugs in.
A worn port is one of the most misread problems we see: people buy two or three chargers before finding out the port itself is the fault. For the flat $60 we test the charger, the port and the battery separately and tell you which one it really is, and that $60 comes off the repair when you go ahead.
The repair is quoted after the look, because it depends on your exact model and on how the port is built. Some ports sit on their own small board or cable and are a straightforward swap. Others are soldered to the main board, and those get diagnosed in-house under the microscope so you get an honest answer and a real price before anything is ordered.
Or just walk in during business hours, no appointment needed.
Charging port problems we fix
- Laptop DC jacks that are loose, wobbly, or only charge at an angle
- USB-C ports on laptops, phones and tablets that stopped charging
- Ports packed with lint and debris, cleaned properly instead of replaced
- Phones that charge only with the cord propped, or not at all
- Chromebooks and tablets that won’t charge, or charge painfully slowly
- Ports damaged by a bent plug or a trip over the cord
Where we replace a part, the repair carries our 30-day warranty on parts and labor. When a port is soldered to the board, we pinpoint the fault here and lay out your options plainly; if the fix is a microsoldering repair we do not do in-house yet, we say so instead of guessing.

What to expect
Here's how it goes.
Charger, port or battery?
Bring the device and its charger. For the flat $60 we test all three separately and tell you which one it really is, instead of selling you a port for a charger problem.
The honest kind of port
Ports on their own small board or cable are a straightforward swap, quoted before anything is ordered. Ports soldered to the main board get a look under the microscope and a plain answer about your options.
Fixed, tested, warrantied
The $60 comes off the repair. Where we replace a part, it is backed by our 30-day warranty on parts and labor, and most repairs are done a day or two after you approve the fix.
The other road
Sometimes replacing it is the smarter fix.
If the repair costs more than the machine is worth, we say so - and these are on our shelf right now: cleaned up, tested by us, warrantied at the counter, with your files moved over before you leave.
Common questions
Common charging port repair questions
How much does a charging port repair cost?
It is quoted after the $60 diagnostic, because it depends on your exact model and on whether the port is on its own small board or soldered to the main one. Those are very different jobs, and a price before we have looked would be a guess. For the $60 we find out which you have and give you the real number before anything is ordered, with the $60 credited to the repair.
My laptop only charges if I hold the cord at an angle. Is that the port?
Usually, yes, though a frayed charger cable does the exact same thing, which is why we test both. A worn DC jack or USB-C port is a repair we do every week, and it is almost always far cheaper than replacing the laptop. Bring the charger with you so we can test it with the one you actually use.
Do you fix phone and tablet charge ports too?
Yes. iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, iPads and Android tablets all come through for charge ports. A surprising number only need the lint cleaned out properly, which we check first. If the port needs replacing, it is quoted for your exact model before any work starts, and it carries the same 30-day warranty.
What if the port is soldered to the motherboard?
Then it is a board-level job, and we are honest about what that means. We diagnose it in-house under the microscope and pinpoint exactly what failed, and you hear your options plainly: sometimes it is a repair we can do here, and sometimes it needs microsoldering we do not do in-house yet, in which case we say so and point you the right way instead of guessing.
Can I just use a USB-C port on the other side in the meantime?
On many newer laptops, yes, and that is a fine stopgap if the other port charges. On phones and most older laptops there is only one way in. Either way, if the device has stopped charging reliably, do not run the battery flat before you bring it in, because a dead battery and a dead port together make the diagnosis harder.
Will my files be safe?
A port repair does not touch your storage, so your files, photos and programs stay put. We still suggest keeping a backup of anything important, as a good habit on any repair.
Whatever broke, we’ve probably seen it. Let’s take a look.
Our flat prices are posted on the pricing page. The one thing we never guess at is the repair itself: we look first ($60, credited to your repair), then you get a real number before any work starts. Walk in, book a time, or text us a photo of what’s wrong. Look for the black door with our logo on it, straight ahead when you pull in, up the steps; knock if it’s locked, we’re here.
